Activities At The Camp

Bushwalk

Bushwalk right from your front door through the Mimosa Rocks National Park forest amongst the spotted gums and cycads to Middle Beach where Tanja Lagoon meets the ocean. It is a magic beach. At the northern end there is a surf break and deep pools between the rocks to explore.

At the southern end is the sand bar that keeps the lagoon from going out with the tide. It is a lovely place for a long walk on the beach. There are two marked tracks from the camp to the beach, both about 20 minute walk.

Canoe or kayak

Canoe or Kayak on the lagoon. Explore around the Island, head to the sand bar at Middle Beach or if you have no need for a destination, just float with the pelicans and swans. Guests are welcome to use the canoes and kayaks free of charge at any time. We recommend early morning or late afternoon.

Stay in bed and enjoy a slow breakfast!

The handcrafted Queen size bed is one of the most comfortable places you will ever sleep. Enjoy a slow morning in bed with all the canvas windows and doors rolled up. Listen to the songs of the birds.

Enjoy a slow breakfast of the quality local produce items in your kitchen.

Enjoy a campfire.

Each tent has it’s own fire drum and camp chairs and firewood is provided. If there are no fire bans we encourage you to enjoy a small campfire out under the night sky. There is a good chance you will hear the gliders, nightjars and owls out in the night.

Stargaze

Stargazing is spectacular here as there are no town lights to distract from the display. See if you can find the Southern Cross and the Dark Emu in the Milky Way.

Go to the beach

Take a short walk from Tanja, through the Mimosa Rocks National park, and you will find pristine Australian coastline. The Sapphire Coast is home to the most beautiful beaches, powder-soft sands and clear blue sea. Swim, snorkel, surf,  or enjoy a long beach walk while you enjoy stunning views.

Watch whales

From mid-September until late November whales pass the shores of Tanja on their annual migration. These majestic mammals can be seen from the beach or for a closer view book a whale-watching cruise from Bermagui, Eden or Merimbula.
